Azizi Developments Begins Workforce Housing Projects in Dubai and Sharjah
The developer's residential programme is designed to accommodate more than 31,000 workers, with a major community planned in Sharjah's Al Sajaa area.
UAE-based Azizi Developments has launched work on a series of workforce accommodation projects in Dubai and Sharjah, with the developments expected to provide housing for more than 31,000 people once completed.
The programme aims to improve living conditions for workers by incorporating healthcare services, vocational training facilities, fitness amenities and dining options within residential communities. The approach combines accommodation with essential services and recreational spaces to support workers' daily needs.
Sharjah Community to Accommodate More Than 20,000 Residents
The largest development in the programme is planned for Al Sajaa in Sharjah. The master community is designed to accommodate more than 20,000 residents across 36 residential buildings.
According to Azizi Developments, the project will include four neighbourhood hubs, five medical clinics, a pharmacy and a central supermarket.
Plans also feature an 18,945-square-foot Training and Community Centre with capacity for more than 400 people. The facility will support technical training and workplace safety programmes, while landscaped courtyards will provide shared outdoor spaces for residents.
Transport infrastructure is another part of the masterplan, with dedicated bus facilities providing parking bays for 155 buses. The developer also operates a corporate transport fleet comprising more than 500 passenger buses.
Azizi Group CEO Farhad Azizi said the company aims to provide workers with accommodation that supports their health, professional development and overall well-being.
Housing Integrated with Sharjah's Industrial Facilities
The Al Sajaa residential community will be located next to Azizi's manufacturing operations, which occupy more than one million square feet of production space.
The existing facilities manufacture products including aluminium components, joinery, modular ductwork, marble, bathroom pods and glass-fibre-reinforced concrete (GRC). Additional precast concrete production facilities are planned.
Locating accommodation close to these industrial operations is intended to reduce lengthy journeys between residential areas and workplaces. This could help limit travel fatigue, support workforce safety and improve operational efficiency across the developer's construction activities.
Dubai Projects to House More Than 9,700 Workers
Alongside the Sharjah development, Azizi is developing purpose-built workforce accommodation facilities in Dubai's Jebel Ali Industrial 1 area.
The two facilities will cover a combined area of more than 137,000 square metres and are planned to accommodate over 9,700 workers.
The accommodation centres are expected to include medical clinics, indoor gyms and recreational lounges. Their dining arrangements will offer both catered meals and kitchens where residents can prepare their own food.
Construction-related enabling and shoring works are already underway at the Jebel Ali sites, according to the announcement. Site preparation in Al Sajaa is scheduled to begin later in October 2026.
Phased Delivery Planned Through 2027
Azizi Developments expects the workforce housing programme to be delivered in phases through late 2027.
The projects form part of the developer's broader approach to workforce welfare, bringing accommodation, essential services and training facilities together within planned residential environments.
Once delivered, the communities are intended to provide housing for more than 31,000 workers across the two emirates, while supporting the operational needs of the company's construction and manufacturing activities.
