Palm Jumeirah Set for Two New Pedestrian Bridges as Dubai Expands Community Infrastructure

Construction has commenced on two elevated pedestrian crossings at Shoreline and Golden Mile, with the project designed to improve accessibility and provide safer movement for approximately 16,000 residents.

Dubai's Palm Jumeirah is preparing for an improvement to its pedestrian infrastructure, with two new bridges planned to make movement around the island more convenient and accessible. The project forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance facilities within established residential communities while supporting safer connections between different areas.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), working alongside Dubai Holding Community Management, has begun construction of the two pedestrian crossings. The structures will be developed at separate locations, serving the Shoreline residential area near the entrance to Palm Jumeirah and the Golden Mile district close to its retail outlets.

The infrastructure programme is expected to benefit around 16,000 residents by providing additional crossing facilities and improving pedestrian access in these busy parts of the island.

Two bridges to serve key Palm Jumeirah locations

The development includes two structures, each measuring approximately 40 metres in length. Their locations have been selected to strengthen pedestrian connections in areas that accommodate residential properties, retail destinations and everyday community activities.

The first bridge, planned for the Shoreline area, is scheduled to be completed in June 2027. The second crossing, situated near Golden Mile, is expected to be ready by October 2027.

Once operational, the bridges will provide dedicated pedestrian routes and help improve safety for people travelling between nearby destinations.

Accessibility included in the infrastructure design

Beyond improving pedestrian movement, the project incorporates facilities intended to make the crossings accessible to a wider range of users.

Both bridges will feature lifts, allowing easier access for senior citizens and People of Determination. These provisions are intended to make walking routes more inclusive and convenient for residents with different mobility requirements.

The additional facilities will also strengthen the usability of the surrounding public spaces, particularly for people who regularly travel between residential buildings, shops and other nearby destinations.

Improved connectivity supports Palm Jumeirah's residential environment

Palm Jumeirah is recognised for its residential developments, hospitality destinations and retail facilities. As the community continues to accommodate residents and visitors, improvements to its transport and pedestrian infrastructure remain important for maintaining convenience and accessibility.

The latest project highlights the role of local infrastructure in supporting established residential destinations. Better pedestrian connections can make everyday journeys easier while providing residents with more practical ways to access nearby facilities.

With the Shoreline bridge targeted for completion in June 2027 and the Golden Mile structure expected in October 2027, the project represents another infrastructure improvement for one of Dubai's prominent waterfront communities.
